REACH
The Ordinance on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances (REACH) is an ordinance of the European Community on the reform of the European law on chemicals and has been in effect since June 1, 2007.
This company welcomes the ordinance’s aim of protecting human health and the environment..
It goes without saying that Fashy satisfies all obligations as a downstream user and passes the relevant information onto its suppliers and its customers.
In order to satisfy the consumer information obligation as defined in Article 33 of the ordinance, the information as to whether certain so-called substances of very high concern (SVHC) are contained in the products is required for all production stages. The duty of consumer information relates in this regard to the official candidate list, which was published on 28.10.2008. Customers have to be informed if products procured by it contain substances from the candidate list with a mass content of > 0.1%.
This section of the ordinance serves only the duty of customer information and limits neither the production nor the sale of the stated products.
This also applies for our preliminary suppliers who must, following publication of the candidate list, advise us automatically on the presence of substances in the list.
To be able to give our customers reliable information as swiftly as possible, we have checked our products against the published draft of the candidate list in advance. On the basis of the analysis results, we inform you about the following constituents on the candidate list that are present in our products:
A) Hot water bottles, bath sandals, baby items, teething rings, rubber dugs, baby books, inflatable items and other soft products:
contain pro mil traces of the following substances
Dissononylphthalate (DINP) CAS No.: 28553-12-0 und 68515-48-0 > 0.1 % weight
B) Bath sandals and their products:
contain pro mil traces of the following substances
Di-n-octylphthalate (DNOP) CAS No.: 117-84-0 > 0.1 % weight
These phthalates, which have been in use for many years, are integrated into the polymer matrix and lend the products their flexibility.
According to the information available so far, the packaging contains no substances on the current candidate list of over 0.1% weight. Should we receive any contradictory information, we shall inform you automatically and immediately through our homepage.
Our objective is for none of the substances on the candidate list to appear in our products. We have therefore requested our preliminary suppliers to eliminate the aforementioned substances from the primary products, while maintaining the high quality of our products. These suppliers are currently checking the feasibility of this request.
We would also like to point out that neither manufacturers nor retailers are under any obligation to pass on this information to customers and consumers. Manufacturers and retailers are simply obliged to provide within 45 days information, on receiving a written request from end customers, regarding products that contain substances on the candidate list.
Our Quality Management team is aware of its responsibility for the products supplied to you and will implement, as part of our duty of care, all the procedures required to ensure the continued supply of quality products.
